What I came up with.
Here is a piece I've been working on. It's not done... but I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to finish it.I'm gonna try to post my work here more often. I do play on Photoshop all day after all.

You did a wonderful job of extracting the picture of the boys and placing it on a new background. Did you use the extract tool or the normal selection tools? The edges look great!

I used a combo of all the tools. I started with the rectangular marquee tool and then the magic wand. A lot of times I make an alpha mask or path of that selection. I've been known to use the pen tool too. And of course to finish it off I used the Gaussian blur on the inverse.
